I Am Two Weeks Old Today

I am two weeks old today and I visited my favorite doctor, Dr. Grant.  I now weight 8lbs and am very healthy. I have been working out every day and soon will have a very strong neck!  Life at two weeks is good!

Diapers

We just finished nearly all of Evangeline's disposable diapers so today we started on cloth diapers. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Dinners

The first 10 days or so of parenthood have been fairly straightforward, all things considered. However part of the ease has nothing to do with Evangeline or her parents- we have been blessed with a generous helping of meals, snacks, and desserts delivered right to our door (and sometimes prepared right in our kitchen!).

From curry dinners (grandma Kathy E.), tamale pie (Joneses), lactation bars (Butlers), Humus (Sarah), apple pie (great grandma Jones), and a freezer full of meals still to eat, friends and family have been making sure mom and dad stay well fed.

9 days

I am 9 days old today.  I like sleeping on dad, being held and eating to my hearts desire.

After nearly a week of locking ourselves in the house, we finally went on a big outing to meet our friends' new baby, Lincoln. Being only six days apart, we imagine they'll become great friends.

We woke up this morning to a nice sunny day, so Evangeline got to go out on her first walk. Before that could happen, she had to get all bundled up.

We are home!

We left the hospital this morning around 10:00am.  We survived another night as parents. Kev has officially become a pro diaper changer and swaddler.  Evangeline has quickly stolen our hearts and we are excited for you all to meet her!

First Night

We made it through the first night. We all took turns sleeping- sometimes Evangeline, sometimes Kev, and other times Tiff- and in the end we all woke up healthy and excited about day number 2 as a family.

Evangeline passed her first test today: the Oregon state-mandated audiology exam to determine whether or not she is hearing properly. She looks just fine.

In a few hours she'll get a few pricks on her heel for blood samples to test for Jaundice and some  inherited disorders. All indications point that she'll pass those with flying colors as well.

One more night in the hospital, then we'll pack up the bags to show Evangeline her new home.

Evangeline

Tiffany awoke this morning at 2am with strong contractions. By 7am we were on our way to Portland Providence. By 8am Tiff was admitted to the hospital with stronger, more consistent contractions.

After 32 minutes of "pushing" Evangeline Erickson burst into the world at 11:20am, arm reaching out and pressed against her head. Weighing in at 7 pounds, 12 ounces, she is a strong, beautiful little girl.

Tiffany is doing very well, despite needing some well-earned respite. Pictures and more information to follow.

[False] Alarm

We rushed to this hospital this afternoon under the suspicion that Tiff's water had broken. It turns out that it hasn't, but she is definitely getting close to labor. Tonight? Tomorrow? We'll soon find out.

Lucky for us, the hospital provided Tiff with a new wardrobe to help her past the time during our few hours in the hospital.

11/21/2012- 38 week appt with Dr. Grant we found out Tiffany is:

• 1cm dilated
• 30% Effaced
• -3 Station

This doesn't mean Evangeline is coming tonight, but it does mean she is getting ready.  Check back here on the day Tiffany goes into labor, this will be the place where we keep everyone updated.
